On May 16, 2024, the Housing + Services Roundtable brought together a diverse group of stakeholders at the Gold Coast Transit District conference room in Oxnard to address one of Ventura County's most pressing challenges: homelessness and the housing crisis. This impactful event convened representatives from county departments, homeless services, addiction recovery, mental health organizations, and advocates for vulnerable populations such as seniors, transitional-age youth (TAY), and women escaping violence.
The roundtable began with networking over coffee and breakfast, fostering connections among attendees. The program featured presentations to establish a shared understanding of housing and services currently available, followed by a moderated discussion identifying gaps, unmet needs, and actionable solutions.
Key themes included the need for integrated housing models with support services, strategies for addressing systemic barriers, and prioritizing tailored solutions for unique demographic groups. Attendees collaborated on brainstorming ways to improve the county's response to homelessness, setting the stage for continued dialogue at the October 24th Ventura County Housing Conference.
The event emphasized that real change requires collective action, innovative thinking, and sustained commitment.
