Join us for an important and timely forum focused on how our neighborhoods, cities, and the County can better prepare for wildfires—and recover more quickly when they happen.

📆 Thursday, April 3, 2025
⏰ 11:45 AM – 2:30 PM
📍 Ventura County Office of Education, Board Room (5100 Adolfo Road, Camarillo)
This forum has two main goals:
1) Share helpful, practical information you can use
2) Identify where we need to advocate at the local, state, and federal levels
We’re excited to welcome three expert presenters who will cover a wide range of topics:
Stephen Watson – Ventura Regional Fire Safe CouncilHow to create fire-safe communities, including home assessments, defensible space, fire-resistant building materials, property design, access, and relevant codes.
Joe Morelli – Ventura County Fire DepartmentAn overview of the new Cal-Fire hazard severity maps, areas of responsibility, and key recommendations to improve community-wide fire resilience.
Rob Obedoza – California Department of InsuranceWhat to know about property insurance—current rates, how to find coverage, claims, the FAIR Plan, and strategies to avoid insurance obstacles that could impact new and existing homes, including multi-family housing.
Your questions, ideas, and concerns will play a big part in helping shape a more unified approach to wildfire preparedness and recovery. There will be plenty of time for Q&A, and follow-up resources and presentation slides will be shared after the event.
🍴 Lunch is included, and a $25 donation helps cover the cost of the venue and refreshments.
We hope to see you there—your input matters!
