ANNUAL HOUSING CONFERENCE

The 24th annual Ventura County Housing Conference gathered some 260 professionals to focus on innovative housing solutions, collaboration, and policy advancements. This year's theme, "Connecting Communities," emphasized how Ventura County can address housing issues by joining forces and working together, between industry sectors, between geographic areas, between public-private-nonprofit-government, and within local neighborhoods.
The Conference included:

Two keynote speakers: economist Dr. Jamshid Damooei, and Strong Towns exec Chris Allen, both identifying the 'financialization of housing' as a root cause for many of today's housing and affordability issues. They offered different, but complimentary, solutions.

An afternoon panel of Affordable housing experts discussed funding challenges and opportunities at federal, state, and local levels.

At lunch time, attendees gathered in facilitated small group discussions to delve into a variety of housing topics.

Casa Pacifica spoke about how they were able to expand their housing for transitional-aged-youth by connecting state, local and charitable funds.

Thirty organizations hosted informational tables in the exhibit all to further facilitate connections.

And Tracy McAulay of the County of Ventura Executive Office received the 2025 Carmen Ramirez Housing Advocacy Award.
