"Community Voices" video
At the beginning of 2022 over 2,200 people in Ventura County were found to be living on the streets, in vehicles, along highways and in temporary housing. With some of the highest rents and housing prices in the nation, many more of our neighbors are at risk of losing their current housing and are unable to find suitable housing.
In discussing the year-long RECONNECT theme, we sought to better understand the housing struggles experienced by so many in our community. This summer HOME embarked on a video project to give voice to people who live and work in Ventura County but are finding it increasingly difficult to do so. With the help of several organizations we connected with seven individuals who bravely shared their stories with us. While still a work-in-progress, we hope this video leads people to greater understanding, hope and action. If you have a housing solution for any of these individuals, please contact HOME immediately.
