A new charitable fund to provide financial support for programs in the greater Ventura County area that encourages career exploration and training in construction trades and the built environment.
WHY is the Fund needed?
- Current shortage of skilled construction labor delays progress and increases the cost for new home construction.
- Helps to de-stigmatize trade jobs and provides an alternate pathway that is diverse, high paying, reliable, and quicker to access.
- Schools have removed many of the hands-on “shop” programs leaving few opportunities to explore the built environment at a young age.
- Current funding sources are inconsistent. This fund can provide a regular stream improving existing programs’ reliability.
- Supports programs by smaller entities or collaborations without staff or resources to pursue complex state workforce development grants.
- Generates skilled workers within our community; local labor for local jobs lessen traffic, gas, and commute time.
