CETC Addresses Critical Issues
- The Sourth Central Coast Region has an acute housing shortage and affordability crisis.
- Current shortage of skilled construction labor delays progress and increases the cost for new home construction.
- Helps to de-stigmatize trade jobs and provides an alternate pathway that is diverse, high paying, reliable, and quicker to access.
- Over 90% of middle and high schools in the County do not offer any instruction opportunities to explore the built environment and learn about the wide range of construction-related careers.
- Gives options for students who learn better with hands-on instruction and opens non-traditional avenues for women.
- Generates skilled workers within our community; local labor for local jobs lessen traffic, gas, and commute time.
- Integrates with new thechnolgy supportingenvironmental goals.
